Luxury car maker Aston Martin creating 150 new jobs at South Wales factory
Luxury car maker Aston Martin is creating 150 jobs at its factory in the Vale of Glamorgan.
The company, which is also recruiting for 250 agency staff at its HQ at Gaydon in the Midlands, is expanding its headcount to support production of its next generation of sports cars and the DBX707 sports utility vehicle – the latter which is made at its factory in St Athan where it currently employs 700.
Across its two UK manufacturing factories it has a current workforce of 2,500.
Simon Smith, chief people officer of Aston Martin said: “We are delighted to be able to increase our manufacturing team across both our facilities in Gaydon and St Athan, creating further employment opportunities for our local communities.
“These 400 agency roles, supporting our production plans and introduction of thrilling new products, are a fantastic opportunity for new team members to join us and play their own part in our iconic brand’s next chapter.”
On the agency status of the new staff, Aston Martin said: “As a demand-led manufacturer, Aston Martin operates a flexible workforce, dialling up resource depending in line with its production plans and current market demand.
“There may be an opportunity in the future for agency colleagues to join Aston Martin in a permanent role. In January 2023, the company made an offer of full-time permanent employment to all agency colleagues currently working at Aston Martin sites.”
