VIJAYAWADA: In a setback to YSRCP, senior leader from backward classes-weavers’ community from Dharmavaram constituency, Giriraju Naresh has quit the party. Naresh has been serving the party since its inception in 2011. Naresh had also served as Central Governing Council (CGC) member of YSRCP and general secretary of party’s weavers’ wing. A strong backward classes leader from weavers town of Dharmavaram in Sri Satya Sai district, Naresh has said that he had decided to quit the party after failing to get proper response from the party leadership including the local legislator Ketireddy Venkatrami Reddy. “Local legislator Kethireddy Venkatrami Reddy has scant respect for the leaders from backward classes communities. He never bothered even to recognize the selfless services extended by people like me,” fumed Naresh. He said that he had been with the party since its inception and Kethireddy entered the party much later. He said that he felt that there was no point in continuing in the party where there was no respect and recognition. “Self-respect is much bigger than any position. I have never aspired for power or position. I thought it is better to quit the party where there is no respect,” said Naresh. He said that YSRCP leaders started threatening him since he decided to extend his support to the BJP candidate Y Satya Kumar who is a BC leader. He said that a BC leader got an opportunity for the first-time in the history of Dharmavaram and they felt it was their responsibility to extend their support to the BC leader. He said that the BCs of Dharmavaram constituency would join together to ensure the victory of BC leader Satya Kumar.
