Winter storm watch issued for most of our viewing area
A winter storm watch has been issued for most of the counties in our viewing area, according to the National Weather Service.
The watch goes into effect Monday evening and is expected to last until Tuesday afternoon.
According to the National Weather Service, heavy snow with five to eight inches is possible for Cambria, Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Northern Centre and Somerset counties.
Their website states that precipitation will start as a light rain before transitioning into snow, becoming steadier and heavier Monday night, with snowfall rates greater than 1 inch per hour possible overnight into early Tuesday morning.
For Bedford, Blair and Huntingdon counties, heavy snow with four to six inches is possible as well as wind gusts up to 35 mph, and that travelers should plan on slippery road conditions.
