The debut of New York Yankees star outfielder Juan Soto went off without a hitch, and a broken locker stall given to him by the Houston Astros didn’t faze him.

The star of the thrilling 5-4 win, Soto put his stamp on the game with a beautiful throw to home plate with one out in the ninth inning, nabbing the would-be tying run. He also sparked a rally with an RBI single in the fifth inning for his first Yankees hit.

But before the game, the locker given to Soto from the Astros came with a broken drawer, according to Jon Heyman of The New York Post.

The 25-year-old star took it in stride and with a smile.

When it was pointed out that the locker given to him — a $30M player — contained a broken drawer, he just smiled. “It’s good luck,” he said.

Soto went 1-for-3 with an RBI single and two walks during his Yankees debut. In true Soto fashion, he saw 25 pitches throughout his five at-bats, which was tied with Anthony Volpe for the team-high during the game.

The Yankees got a glimpse of what kind of impact Soto brings to the roster, and it proved to have a seismic change in the rivalry with the Astros.
