Cops found with nearly RM4,000 cash after traffic operation put on admin duties, says Selangor CPO

PUCHONG: Ten cops, who are under investigation for possessing nearly RM4,000 cash following a traffic operation, have been put on administrative duties.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the group would be handling admin tasks pending probes.

“We need to investigate whether the cash found is their own money or if negative elements are involved,” he told reporters after launching a road safety campaign in conjunction with the Chinese New Year 2024 at Puchong Selatan toll plaza here on Monday (Feb 5).

It was reported on Sunday (Feb 4) that the 10 cops, including an officer with the rank of Inspector, are being investigated after cash money, amounting to nearly RM4,000, was found in their bags and patrol cars following a drunk driving operation.

On a separate issue, Comm Hussein said a major reshuffle involving 575 rank-and-file frontline personnel in Selangor was conducted on Monday,

“Members from the Patrol Car Unit and Motorcycle Patrol Unit, who have served for more than six years, have been transferred to other units.

“We don’t want those, who have been around for too long, to become ‘comfortable’,” he said.
