If, like us, you’re extremely attached to your Amazon Prime subscription, you’re about to be seriously annoyed.
One of the perks of Prime is being able to get free same-day delivery with cheap items arriving at your doorstep in just a matter of hours – as long as the item was ordered before 1pm.
But Amazon Prime subscribers will now have to pay an extra charge of £1.99 for same-day delivery on orders under £20.
This perk used to be included in the monthly subscription price but this changed as of September 18.
If you spend more than £20 then delivery will still be free and the same day delivery fee for those who aren’t Prime members will remain at £5.99.
Amazon Prime subscribers were previously hit with extra costs back in 2022 when the retailer giant announced that a Prime subscription would rise from £7.99 each month to £8.99 each month.

For those who choose to pay a one-off annual fee for their Prime account, the cost increased from £79 to £95.
It was the first membership price increase since 2014.
What may rub Amazon Prime members the wrong way is the announcement of the £1.99 delivery fee coming after the company recorded record sales during its ‘Prime Day’ promotion two months ago.
If you forget about the £1.99 charge Amazon claimed in a statement that all orders will be delivered to Prime members via the fastest available free option, which will be selected automatically.
It’s safe to say people weren’t happy with the change and they took to social media to air their grievances.

One Twitter-user wrote: ‘Amazon Prime put a £1.99 charge on delivery. Do what I did ages ago, don’t buy goods from them.’
Another agreed, saying: ‘Amazon Prime has now switched to the only free on the day delivery with orders £20 and over. Ugh dude, you get used to one thing and they switch it, wonder why this time? It’s just more awkward now having to find items to patch it all for on the day delivery or pay £1.99.’
One more said: ‘That’s why I pay for amazon prime in the first place, why should I then pay another £1.99 on certain deliveries I may as well just cancel Amazon Prime.’
