Pac-12 Commissioner's Old Comment About Conference Is Coming Back To Haunt Him

pac-12 commissioner's old comment about conference is coming back to haunt him

Pac-12 commissioner George Kliavkoff is eating his own words for breakfast, lunch and dinner this Friday.

Two weeks ago, Kliavkoff said losing Pac-12 members to the Big 12 was “not a concern.” Well, it turns out he should’ve been worried about the Big Ten this entire time.

The Big Ten reportedly has a deal in place to add Oregon and Washington as league members in 2024. Once this was announced, a comment Kliavkoff made about the Pac-12’s “commitment” resurfaced on social media.

“Our schools are committed to each other and to the Pac-12,” Kliavkoff said. “We’ll get our media rights deal done, we’ll announce the deal. I think the realignment that’s going on in college athletics will come to an end for this cycle.”

Welp.

Obviously, no commissioner is going to admit that their conference is losing members at a rapid pace. It’s just not in their DNA.

That being said, Kliavkoff is running out of time to save the Pac-12. With Oregon, USC, UCLA and Washington now gone, the conference doesn’t have many notable programs left.
