disruption warning for drivers amid roadworks affecting leicestershire's a42

The closures will affect the route between the entry and exit sliproads

Drivers have been warned of traffic disruption affecting the A42 in Leicestershire for the next week. Road closures are being put in place in the name of public safety.

The warning, issued by Leicestershire County Council’s Highways Department, centres on the roundabouts at the junction with Measham Road and A42 near Ashby. One-way road closures are set to be implemented from Thursday (February 8) amid maintenance works.

The closures are being split into two sections to allow highways staff carry out work on safety barriers in the area. Drivers are now being warned of traffic disruption as a result of the works.

The first set of closures will be in force between the entry and exit sliproads for A42 at Measham Road. These will be in force on the northbound route from 8pm to 6am between Thursday, February 8 and Friday, February 9.

The closure will then be back in force between the same hours on Monday, February 12. Southbound traffic travelling from Ashby towards Measham is not affected by the closures.

A closure affecting southbound traffic between the entry and exit sliproads will then be in force from Tuesday, February 13 between the same hours. Northbound traffic travelling from Measham towards Ashby is not affected.

Leicestershire County Council have confirmed that diversions have been put in place for affected motorists. Drivers will be guided along the A42 North/South depending on the closures. More information can be found on the one.network website.
