Audi's sleek flagship electric car is going under the knife

Audi has been spied testing its updated e-tron GT ahead of an expected reveal in 2024.

The e-tron GT’s mid-life update will bring a new front bumper design. Based on this prototype it could feature black air intakes on either side of the bumper with hexagonal inserts, plus a ‘grinning’ lower grille.

The grille may also have some slight tweaks, hidden under the camouflage.

At the rear, there appear to be some changes to the bumper design, with two central sections on the diffuser.

It’s possible Audi will make some upgrades to the e-tron GT’s powertrain, given the latest advancements in battery technology, potentially improving range and performance.

The Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT both currently use a 93.4kWh lithium-ion battery, dual-motor all-wheel drive, and a two-speed transmission on the rear axle.

The e-tron GT produces 350kW of power (390kW in boost mode) and 630Nm of torque, good for a 0-100km/h time of 4.1 seconds, while the RS e-tron GT produces 440kW (475kW in boost mode) and 830Nm and hits 100km/h in 3.3 seconds.

Range is 488km on the WLTP cycle.

Porsche has been spied testing a high-performance version of its related Taycan at the Nurburgring. It’s unclear if Audi will in turn amp up its RS e-tron GT, which is currently the brand’s flagship electric performance car.

Audi first revealed its electric flagship at the 2021 IAA motor show, and it arrived in Australia in early 2023.

Between January and October 2023, VFACTS reports Audi has sold 289 examples of its e-tron GT, while Porsche has sold 455 examples of its Taycan over the same period.
