‘Be GREAT!’: DJ Khaled fuels Sundowns’ pursuit
American hip-hop sensation DJ Khaled has sent an uplifting message to Mamelodi Sundowns. The South African champions prepare for their crucial CAF Champions League semifinal second leg against Esperance.
Sundowns suffered a 1-0 defeat in the first leg in Tunisia, but they are determined to overturn the deficit at Loftus Versfeld on Friday.
Roc Nation Sports International Connects Sundowns to the Stars
Mamelodi Sundowns have a partnership with the globally renowned Roc Nation Sports International. The company, founded by legendary rapper Jay-Z, has brought Sundowns into the international music scene spotlight.
Consequently, this collaboration has attracted the support of prominent figures like DJ Khaled.
The “We The Best” record label founder shared his message through a video posted on Sundowns and Roc Nation’s social media pages.
“Sundowns, bless up. Be great at the semifinals. I was going to say goodluck but no, be great,” DJ Khaled said, his words filled with energy and positivity.
Captain Zwane Leads by Example
Themba Zwane, Mamelodi Sundowns’ captain and a key member of the 2016 CAF Champions League-winning squad, addressed the fans.
He delivered a message of determination ahead of the critical encounter. “For us, we know what we’re capable of and now it’s time to show it,” Zwane declared, showcasing his belief in the team.
Sundowns Determined to Overcome Deficit
Esperance holds a slender lead after Yan Sasse’s goal in the first leg at Stade Olympique Hammandi Agrebi. However, Mamelodi Sundowns have proven their resilience in the face of adversity.
The Tshwane giants want to avoid a repeat of last season’s disappointment when Wydad Casablanca eliminated them at the same stage.
The Road to the Final
The winner of the Mamelodi Sundowns vs Esperance tie will face the victor of the Al-Ahly and TP Mazembe semifinal in the CAF Champions League final.
The final will be played over two legs, with the first match on May 12 and the decisive second leg a week later. The ultimate prize of being crowned the kings of African football awaits the triumphant team.
Sundowns are eager to etch their name in history once more. As the 8:00 pm kick-off approaches, fans across Africa eagerly anticipate whether Mamelodi Sundowns can harness the power of DJ Khaled’s inspirational words and secure their spot in the final. The stage is set for an epic encounter, and the Brazilians are ready to give their all in pursuit of glory.
