Ange Postecoglou laughed when asked if he was ‘worried’ about Tottenham’s upcoming games against Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City.

This came in his post-match press conference after his side where thrashed 4-0 by Newcastle United on Saturday.

Goals from Alexander Isak (two), Anthony Gordon and Fabian Schar at St. James’ Park have dealt a huge blow to Spurs’ aspirations of qualifying for the Champions League.

Though they are still level with Aston Villa on points, the heavy defeat means they have slipped to fifth in the table on goal difference.

And things aren’t going to get any easier for the Lilywhites as they have one of the trickiest run-ins in the league, with clashes against title contenders Arsenal, Liverpool and City, as well as London rivals Chelsea.

The North London Derby is up next, and with the Gunners unbeaten in the Premier League in 2024 (winning nine of 10), they’ll be fancied to beat their arch-rivals, especially after the result at Newcastle.

Postecoglou was unfazed however when asked by a reporter: ‘Are you worried watching that, that you’ve still got Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City to come?’

The manager’s response was to laugh and simply say: ‘No, no, no, no.’

Tottenham have over a fortnight to recoup before that clash, giving them plenty of time to recover and reflect on what what went wrong against the Magpies.

‘There’s no point sitting around feeling sorry for yourself,’ Postecoglou added.

‘There’s another game in two weeks. We’ve just got to get ready for that. It’s not the first time it’s happened to us and it won’t be the last.

‘It’s part of our growth. Sometimes that growth is painful. That’s part of it and you’ve just got to embrace it, use it and get ready for the next challenge.

‘Newcastle were good, credit to them, I thought they were really good today. We just didn’t really get a grip of the game at all.’
