Bulls coach on Willie le Roux: I can’t believe the flak he gets!

This past weekend Willie le Roux made his Bulls debut and scored a try as the Pretoria-based side clinched a 53-27 United Rugby Championship win over Connacht.

Le Roux brought all his experience and leadership to proceedings, and received a rave review from Jake White.

“I can’t believe he gets all the flak that he gets,” White said. “It’s the first time he’s played for the Bulls, but it looked like he’s been with us for four years when I first joined the team.

“He’s got unbelievable time, he’s very skilful, clever and I’m really happy that he’s come to the Bulls because you can already see the impact he has with guys like Canan and Kurt-Lee.

“It’s almost like having a coach that’s going on and as long as he’s playing as he is and stays healthy, it’s going to make it hard for other players to kick him out.”

Bulls happy to have Willie le Roux and Boks back

The Bulls welcomed their Bok contingent in Marco van Staden, Canan Moodie, and Le Roux, while Kurt-Lee Arendse will soon also be back.

“Having the Boks back is unbelievable,” White said. “I was saying to the players before the game that every guy in the forward pack except for Reinhardt Ludwig has played for South Africa.

“That’s incredible because that’s a great step for the Bulls and Ludwig has captained the Under-20s, so the most inexperienced forward is a former Under-20 captain.

“Having World Cup winners and Springboks in your team is something I’ve been pushing since I’ve got here.

“We need to have international players playing for South Africa because it’s better for the audience, the product and for this game because you don’t just score 50 points against Connacht.”
