Billboard PH Women in Music: Female artists, singers dazzle on blue carpet
It was an unforgettable night for female artists as they were recognized at the first-ever Billboard Philippines Women in Music awards on Friday, March 22, where Sarah Geronimo, Regine Velasquez, and Moira Dela Torre were among the awardees.
Female artists and special guests were glammed up in their elegant ensembles at the Samsung Hall at SM Aura Premier in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, as the music publication honored the Filipinas who made an impact in the industry in their respective categories.
Geronimo — who was named Woman of the Year — was all glammed up in a platinum tube dress made of crumpled taffeta fabric by Rajo Laurel. The look was completed her hair pulled up in a bun, softened by her fringes. She accessorized with a diamond encrusted choker.
The singer-actress was accompanied by her husband Matteo Guidicelli who looked dashing in his brown suit. The latter served as the presenter of Geronimo’s award.
Meanwhile, Velasquez opted for a feminine route in her white gown adorned with black polka dots and black ribbons. The Powerhouse awardee was joined by her husband, singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid, and her son Nate at the event.
Dela Torre was a stunner on the blue carpet in her sheer, body-hugging dress which was decked with sequins up to the hem. Her elegant look was complimented by her wavy tresses framing her face.
Jackie Lou Blanco was also present to accept the Icon award on behalf of her mother, Pilita Corrales, who was the epitome of a girl boss in her white suit. She was joined by her daughter Rikki Mae who wore a blue suit at the event.
BINI’s Jhoanna, Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, and Sheena remained faithful to the all-denim concept of their comeback single “Salamin, Salamin,” but took it up a notch with added touches of gemstones, slivers of silver threadwork on their ensembles, and silver accessories.
Ena Mori — who bagged the Rulebreaker award — looked like a fairytale character in her purple velvet gown with long sleeves and a dark green tulle skirt. The majestic look was finished with a matching purple hood.
People’s Choice awardee Morissette Amon opted for a dramatic look as she donned a draped purple gown with a rose appliqué design in front. The ensemble was finished off with a gold clutch and purple drop earrings.
On the other hand, Belle Mariano was effortlessly chic in her red tube dress adorned with red hearts completed with silver earrings and a high ponytail. She bagged the Listeners’ Choice award with her song “Bugambilya” at the event.
Making a surprise appearance, Stell Ajero of SB19 was breathtaking in his dark blue suit while his hair was swept up in a comma hairstyle. He presented the award to fellow P-pop artists BINI at the ceremony.
Another surprise appearance was Zild Benitez — as a presenter for Mori’s award — who looked effortlessly cool in his black suit and checkered necktie. The look was accessorized with aviator spectacles and lip piercing.
R&B rising star Denise Julia was a stunner in a daring black velvet gown designed by Carissa King and her newly-debuted bob. On the sidelines of the blue carpet, she said she wanted to show her support for her fellow female artists at the ceremony.
Another blue carpet stunner was Mimiyuuuh who channeled Hollywood glamor in her Jerome Lorico nude gown accentuated with gold plates making a tingling sound with every step.
The content creator was present to present an award for Dela Torre, whom the singer referred to as her “best friend.”
Also present at the Billboard PH Women in Music event were Jolina Magdangal and Barbie Almalbis who served as the host and performer, respectively.
The awards ceremony aimed to celebrate the impact of Filipina artists in the music industry to boost Original Pinoy Music or OPM.
