Scouting report: Sayin, the only consensus five-star recruit at any position in the West in this class, headlines both this year’s group of passers and this year’s Western 100 list overall. The Elite 11 MVP, Sayin passed for 2,369 yards and 24 TDs his final high school season, and finished his career with a 70.6 completion percentage, 7,970 passing yards and 86 TDs through the air, per MaxPreps. He added another nine career scores rushing. “He’s an accurate passer, poised and understands timing and anticipation,” 247Sports’ most recent scouting report of Sayin reads. “His physical tools in terms of his size and arm strength took a jump this year and he played with a lot more twitch in his game.” Sayin was the top signee in Alabama’s high school class when he signed with the Crimson Tide in December, but eventually entered the transfer portal following Nick Saban’s retirement and the coaching changes in Tuscaloosa and later committed to Ohio State. Sayin is the consensus top quarterback and overall recruit in California and the West in the 2024 class, and nationally ranked on the Top247 (No. 20), Rivals250 (No. 6) and ESPN300 (No. 9) lists. He was also on the Under Armour All-American Bowl roster this winter. … Brown led California powerhouse Mater Dei to the CIF Open Division state championship this fall, throwing for 310 yards and four TDs in the title win to complete a 42-2 career as a starter with his second state trophy. Brown tallied 2,950 passing yards and 39 TDs as a senior, and posted a 70.5 completion percentage during his career, throwing for 9,289 yards and 115 TDs, and rushing for eight more, per MaxPreps. The top-rated recruit in Stanford’s signing class, Brown is also nationally ranked on the Top247 (No. 192), Rivals250 (No. 207) and ESPN300 (No. 231) recruiting lists. He was also an Elite 11 finalist and named “Mr. Football” by Cal-Hi Sports as a senior. … The Washington Huskies’ new coaching staff is reloading at quarterback in 2024, adding a pair of four-star high school recruits in Etiwanda’s Davis and Basha’s Williams in addition to Mississippi State transfer Will Rogers. Davis threw for 2,618 yards and 25 TDs as a senior, while rushing for seven more TDs, enrolled in Seattle last month and briefly entered the transfer portal before later opting to remain with the Huskies. He is the top-rated high school recruit in UW’s class. Williams signed with Arizona in December, and was an early enrollee in Tucson, but will head to Washington after committing to the Huskies last month. Williams piled up 3,250 passing yards and 34 TDs and 1,136 rushing yards and 20 TDs as a senior, per MaxPreps, and threw for 10,000 plus yards and 93 TDs in his career while also rushing for more than 2,7000 yards and 42 TDs. He is nationally ranked on the Rivals250 (No. 170) and ESPN300 (No. 227) lists, and considered the top pocket passer in the West in this class by ESPN. He was also an Elite 11 finalist, on the All-American Bowl roster and named Arizona’s high school player of the year by the Arizona Cardinals. … Wilson, the younger brother of New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, was named Utah’s Gatorade Player of the Year as a senior after leading the state in passing (4,595 yards, 49 TDs) and pacing Corner Canyon to a 6A state title. He was also an Elite 11 finalist, named to the MaxPreps All-America first-team and named “Mr. Football” by the Deseret News in 2023. Wilson is nationally ranked on the Rivals250 (No. 159) and considered the top player in Utah in the class by Rivals and the top dual-threat quarterback in the West. … Barnett is the top quarterback recruit in Colorado in 2024, and considered the state’s top player by Rivals, while Caminong is the top quarterback recruit in Washington in this class. Caminong is also Cal’s top high school recruit in this signing class, while Smith is Oklahoma State’s.

Scouting report: This year’s group features plenty of versatility. “You have a lot of multi-faceted running backs,” 247Sports National Recruiting Editor Brandon Huffman said. “Guys that can run, can catch, can get out in space and make you miss.” Frazier, a consensus top-10 running back in the country, is the highest-ranked of the three top-40 running backs Georgia — which has the top high school signing class in the country in 2024, per 247Sports — adds in this cycle. He is also nationally ranked on the Top247 (No. 71), Rivals250 (No. 49) and ESPN300 (No. 62) and considered the top running back in the West by 247Sports and ESPN, and top all-purpose back in the region by Rivals. Frazier also won a CIF Open Division state championship as a senior and was on the All-American Bowl roster. … Brown, who was TNT’s state player of the year as a senior and a member of the 2024 class of Northwest Nuggets, ended his high school career ranked third in Washington’s state history in career rushing yards (6,425) and also rushed for 92 TDs in his four seasons at O’Dea. He rushed for 1,897 yards and 34 scores as a senior. He was also a MaxPreps All-America first-team selection and the MaxPreps state player of the year as a senior, as well as an All-American Bowl selection. His is nationally ranked on the ESPN300 (No. 281) and the top signee in Arizona State’s high school class. … Clark (No. 181) and Jones (No. 212) are nationally ranked on the Rivals250, while Washington (No. 224) is ranked on the ESPN300 and the top signee in Arizona’s high school class. … Ka’apana heads from one championship-winning team to another, joining defending FBS national champion Michigan after helping Bishop Gorman to an undefeated 5A Division I title last fall. A standout on the football field and the track, Bair posted top-10 times nationally in both the 100 (10.15) and 200 (20.41) last spring. He is nationally ranked on the Top247 (No. 27), Rivals250 (No. 56) and ESPN300 (No. 108), and considered the top wide receiver in the West by both 247Sports and Rivals. Scouting report: Oregon is the biggest winner in the West in this group again in 2024 — the Ducks also signed four top recruits in this group last year — adding both the region’s top edge rusher in Rushing and top defensive tackle in Breland, as well as Johnson and Jones. “They signed an SEC-type defensive line class,” Huffman said. The Ducks’ signing class ranks fourth overall in the nation in 2024, with Rushing and Breland as the top two defensive signees. Rushing was the highest-ranked recruit in the class prior to Bair’s commitment over the weekend, and is considered the consensus top recruit in Arizona in 2024, as well as the consensus top edge rusher in the West. Listed at outside linebacker by Oregon, Rushing, a five-star recruit, is ranked on the Top247 (No. 26), Rivals250 (No. 92) and ESPN300 (No. 27), and totaled 55 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks and 64 quarterback hurries his senior season. Breland blocked for a Mater Dei program that won the CIF Open Division state championship last fall, was an Under Armour All-American Bowl selection and is ranked on the Top247 (No. 36), Rivals250 (No. 86) and ESPN300 (No. 32). The consensus top defensive tackle in the West collected 5.5 tackles for loss, a sack and five passes defended in 2023. Jones, listed at outside linebacker by Oregon, collected 46 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and nine sacks in five games in 2023, and is listed on the Rivals250 (No. 222). Johnson, a defensive tackle, had 52 tackles and nine sacks his final high school season. The All-American Bowl selection is ranked on the Top247 (No. 94), Rivals250 (No. 193) and ESPN300 (No. 191). … Carter signed with UW in December, and was the Huskies’ highest-ranked addition at the time, but will now head to Alabama, and committed to the Crimson Tide late last month. Carter tallied double-digit sacks each of his final two seasons in high school, including 11 as a senior. He was named Arizona’s defensive player of the year by the Arizona Cardinals as senior, and was an All-American Bowl selection. He tallied 99 tackles and 22 tackles for loss as a senior, while also rushing for 1,300-plus yards and 23 scores. He won back-to-back state titles in the 3A shot put as a sophomore and junior, also helping Yelm to the 3A team title last spring. The All-American Bowl selection is ranked on the Top247 (No. 177), Rivals250 (No. 200) and ESPN300 (No. 192). He plays a physical game, is a willing tackler and always looks under control.” Brown was also named a MaxPreps All-American first-team selection and All-American Bowl selection as a senior, and helped Mater Dei to a CIF Open Division state title. Clark, considered the top athlete in the West by 247Sports, signed with Arizona in December, but decommitted following coaching changes as is now the region’s top uncommitted recruit. Patu, is top signee in WSU’s class, and posted 813 receiving yards and 14 TDs while also hauling in four interceptions on defense as a senior at Roosevelt. The Cougars list Patu at defensive back.
