Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (1)
Although star wide receiver Tyreek Hill is out with an ankle injury, the Miami Dolphins’ offense is humming against the New York Jets.
With 7:42 remaining in the second quarter, Miami quarterback Tua Tagovailoa launched a deep ball to third-year wideout Jaylen Waddle, who scored a 60-yard TD, giving the Dolphins a 17-0 lead.
Hill’s injury is a tough blow for Miami. Entering Week 15, he leads the league in receiving yards (1,542), receiving TDs (12) and is third in receptions (97).
Still, head coach Mike McDaniel is an offensive mastermind, and the Dolphins have other difference-makers who can step up, including Waddle. Through 12 games, the former first-round pick has recorded 63 receptions for 822 yards and three TDs.
The abundance of offensive playmakers is a reason Miami (9-4) could make a deep playoff run and win its first AFC East title since 2008. As of Sunday, oddschecker gives the Dolphins the fifth-best Super Bowl odds (+850).
