Notre Dame Is Hosting USC Commit Brandon Lockhart For A Visit

Back in October, the USC Trojans received a commitment from elite Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola cornerback Brandon Lockhart. Despite that commitment, recruiting hasn’t stopped for the California star. Various programs have continued to push for him, including Notre Dame.

On Saturday, Lockhart will be making his first trip to South Bend to check out spring practice. It’s a visit that he had planned several weeks ago, and is really looking forward to. Notre Dame has been putting in work recruiting the standout defender, and are trending in a good direction.

“My relationship with Notre Dame has been pretty good,” Lockhart told Irish Breakdown. “I started my relationship with the coaches very early by talking on a daily basis. My impression of them is that I definitely know they are a very prestigious school and of course a great football team. I definitely want to see what their spring practice is like when it comes to coaching and intensity.

“I’m most excited to see the practice, facilities, and the school and campus,” he continued. “My overall expectations are very high. I go to a very prestigious high school so I can imagine how Notre Dame’s academics and football intensity is.”

Lockhart is very open about wanting to let the recruiting process play out. Even with his commitment to the Trojans, he is listening to other schools and considering what they all have to say. Notre Dame is one of the schools who he is listening most intently to.

“Recruiting has still been good,” said Lockhart. “I’m keeping my eyes open to other schools who continue to recruit and reach out to me. Top few schools that have been standing out recently are USC, Oregon, Notre Dame, Georgia and Michigan State.”

This visit to South Bend is going to be a massive opportunity for the Irish program to continue momentum with Lockhart. They have a chance to impress, and have a real place in his final decision down the road.

Lockhart is considered a borderline elite prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. He is considered the No. 15 overall player and No. 1 cornerback in the class according to 247Sports. Rivals also has Lockhart ranked very high, currently sitting as the No. 16 overall player.

Even though he is committed to USC, Lockhart is open and considering all of his options. Some of his top offers right now include Notre Dame, Georgia, USC, Michigan, Miami, Oregon, Penn State, Auburn, Tennessee, Michigan State, Arizona, Utah and BYU among others.

As a sophomore, Lockhart was outstanding for Loyola. In 12 games, he collected 56 total tackles, one interception and 10 pass breakups. Lockhart also had two tackles for loss, half a sack, one forced fumble and a defensive touchdown.
