Plane passenger sparks a heated etiquette debate after sharing video of herself battling a CHILD to keep their shared window shade open... so, who do YOU think was in the right?

A woman has caused a stir after showing an irritating seat passenger on their day flight – who turned out to be a child.

The content creator, Umaymah, who lives in Dubai, posted the 8-second clip to TikTok showing her controversial response.

In the video, which has been viewed over 16.3 million times, Umaymah is sitting in her seat on the airplane with the window shade up and light coming in.

However, as she sits there a small hand reaches back from behind the seat in front, and deftly shuts the shade – despite it being the window closest to her seat.

From there, a game of window shade tug-of-war ensured, with the young boy reaching back again to shut the shade, only for Umaymah to stop him by putting her hand in the way to stop him.

‘Its my window,’ she captioned the video, outraged.

‘He had HIS OWN WINDOW,’ she added.

Users were divided by her reaction to the child shutting the window shade, some in agreeance that she has jurisdiction over the window while others felt she should be more lenient because her seatmate was only a child.

‘If I sit next to a window, I want to look out of the window,’ one TikTok user commented. ‘Who closes the window blind on a day flight?’

‘What if they’re trying to sleep ‘ questioned another.

‘You know he’s trying to do that cause he’s getting glare on his iPad,’ a person joked.

Others thought Umaymah didn’t have the right to decide if the window is open or closed.

Umaymah wanted the light to stream in during the flight, while the child in front of her wasn’t so sure

Last year, a flight attendant went viral after sharing her pet peeves from life on the job.

She slammed parents who let their kids loose on the aircraft as something that particularly grinds her gears when she’s working.

The flight attendant said: ‘I’m also a parent myself, but when people let their kids put stickers on the airplane or draw on it or leave a dirty diaper in the seat back pocket, I’m horrified.’

As well as these pet hates, Natalie says it’s also annoying when people don’t wear headphones while watching or listening to something.

She said: ‘They expect everyone to be subjected to their music or what they’re watching.

Despite these issues, Natalie loves her job and believes not all passengers are bad, and even just a simple thank you can make her day.

She said: ‘Honestly, when people say ‘thank you’ when they are getting off the plane [it is really great].
