Queenslander wins $200million Powerball prize: 'What a way to kick off 2024!'

Officials from The Lott are on the hunt for the second division one winner in tonight’s $200 million record-breaking Powerball draw.

The unregistered Queensland player bagged an incredible $100 million prize and became the equal second largest lottery winner in Australian history but may be yet to discover their good fortune.

The Lott spokesperson Anna Hobdell said she was eagerly awaiting the moment the second Powerball winner discovered their prize.

A mum who won half of last night’s $200million jackpot plans to quit her job immediately and travel the world.

The woman and her husband, from SIngleton in New South Wales’ Hunter Valley, had their lives ‘turned upside down’ on Thursday night after checking their ticket and seeing all of their numbers matched the record-breaking $200million draw.

The Singleton couple picked up a phone call from The Lott on the first ring in sheer excitement after winning the grand prize.

About 10million people – or half of Australia’s adult population – entered Thursday night’s draw in hopes of winning the life-changing jackpot

‘It’s a lot of money, a lot of money to fathom,’ the woman told The Lott official.

‘I mean you joke about winning but never expect it to happen to you.

‘My partner is here with me now, he’s a bit in shock. He loves his job, so I don’t know if he’ll be retiring.’

She said that while her partner might continue working, she will ‘absolutely’ be retiring early.

While the couple will be taking the opportunity to celebrate the life-changing win on the weekend and plan travel the world, they are also making sure to support their kids.

‘It’s going to help our children immensely,’ she said.
