“F*cking Chinese.” Students attacked in 2 separate incidents

Four students have been attacked in separate alleged hate crime incidents in the Seattle area.

Independent journalist Jonathan Choe reports Anthony J. Ransford faces charges in the attack on three Asian students near City University in Seattle.

Court documents indicate Ransford spewed racial slurs at the victims’ direction, calling them “f*cking Chinese” and the “China virus.” Prosecutors say he headbutted one victim, breaking his nose and injured another man who tried to stop the attack.

“This was a real live version of some of the terrible hateful things you see on the internet,” said Casey McNerthney, a King County prosecutor. Police arrested Ransford a few blocks away from the attack. He did not give police a motive.

In an unrelated incident in nearby Bellevue, police arrested William David Simonson on accusations of pushing a 16-year-old Chinese girl onto a busy intersection where a car nearly hit her.

Court documents indicate Simonson told her “you’re a f*cking Asian b*tch” and “go back to your country Asian.”

Both cases will be charged as assaults and hate crime. Both appear to happen without provocation, according to McNerthney.
