Volkswagen will launch several new models in South Africa this year, headlined by the new Tiguan. Other important models on the way in 2024 include the updated T-Cross and the electric ID.4
The Volkswagen Group is under pressure from Suzuki in the sales charts as the Japanese carmaker encroaches on its number two slot.
VOLKSWAGEN WILL LAUNCH THREE NEW SUVS IN 2024
SUVs make up the majority of the carmaker’s portfolio in South Africa. It’s no surprise then that emphasis is placed on the new Tiguan, updated T-Cross and flagship Touareg.
Let’s take a look at the new models headed this way:
T-Cross – According to the carmaker, the A0 SUV will launch in the second half of 2024. The latest model features a new design and standard kit like LED headlights, LED taillights and a “Digital Cockpit”.
Engines offered include the 1.0–litre turbocharged with 85kW and 1.5–litre turbocharged petrol according to TimesLive. The Volkswagen T-Cross’ transmission options include a five-speed manual or seven-speed DSG.

Inside, the cabin sports a 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen and for the first time a head-up display will be available. There’s no news on which engines will be available for the new model yet.

Touareg – The flagship SUV in the range benefits from a significant update for 2024. From the rear, you’ll notice a new horizontal LED strip for the taillight clusters and a Volkswagen logo which is illuminated in red.
WHAT ENGINE WILL THE TOURAG SPORT?
A 3.0-litre TDI engine with 190kW paired with an eight -speed automatic gearbox will do duty in the Volkswagen Touareg.

ID.4 – Volkswagen will dip its toe further into the electric car market in South Africa this year by introducing the ID.4 to the motoring media in the first half of the year.
The ID.4 is an electric SUV that has a claimed range of up to 520km. It has an electric motor on its rear axle that generates 150kW and Volkswagen says the family car can accelerate from zero to 100km/h in 8.5 seconds and deliver a top speed of 160km/h.
