Nigeria keeper and Chiefs target warned not to return to Mzansi
Nigeria goalkeeper and Kaizer Chiefs target Stanley Nwabali has reportedly been warned not to return to South Africa after the conclusion of the African Cup of Nations.
Nwabali played a significant role in helping the Super Eagles reach the Afcon finals, where they lost to the host, Ivory Coast, on Sunday.
The Nigerian goalkeeper was in exceptional form against Bafana Bafana in the semi-finals, making two penalty saves that helped the Super Eagles secure a 4-2 victory.
Nigeria keeper told not to return to Chippa United
Former Caf Appeal Committee vice president, Mazi Amanze Uchegbulam, has advised Nwabali against returning to Chippa United due to threats.
“The feelers I’m getting from South Africa regarding Nwabali are not encouraging and I want to advise that he should not go back to Chippa United after the Afcon,” the Nigeria football administrator told the Nation Sports.
“Some would say it was just football but the signals I’m getting from South Africa about Nwabali are not so positive.
“If possible, he can forget going back to Chippa United and train with any of our top clubs either Enyimba United or Rivers United before he can find a new club.
“That is my honest advice and I hope he takes it,” Uchegbulam said.
