The Epic Games Store Year in Review reveals that the digital store has experienced significant growth, reaching over 270 million PC users. When it comes to purchasing, the total spent by PC gamers on the Epic Games Store was $950 million, an increase of 16%. They also spent $310 million on third-party PC games, a drop of 13%. In revealing the top games of 2023 in terms of player spending and engagement, Genshin Impact showed its popularity by appearing in the top tier with Rocket League, Dead Island 2, Grand Theft Auto Online, and Fortnite. Destiny 2, which has had quite a troubled year, appeared in the epic tier, the lowest tier in the chart.

Epic Games’ free games program is in its sixth year and shows no signs of stopping. In 2024, players have already claimed big names, like A Plague Tale: Innocence and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. This week’s free game is Dakar Desert Rally, to be replaced next week by Super Meat Boy Forever.
