Former Tottenham player and manager Tim Sherwood aimed bizarre criticism at Bukayo Saka following Arsenal’s 5-0 win over Burnley on Saturday.

Saka scored twice as the Gunners demolished the Clarets at Turf Moor, netting a first-half penalty before adding a second not long after the the break.

The spot-kick scored by Saka saw Mikel Arteta’s side break a significant club record but Sherwood was left unimpressed by the 22-year-old’s opening goal.

‘It’s up to Saka and this is not convincing,’ Sherwood told Premier League Productions.

‘It’s convincing enough when it nestles behind the goalkeeper into the back of the net, but if you are an Arsenal fan, you would have had your heart in your mouth at that stage.

‘It was a poor penalty. You look at the goalkeeper, he should save it. I mean, it has gone underneath his hand.

‘But at the end of the day, it ended up in the back of the net.’

Saka has been in fine form for the north Londoners this term, conjuring up 12 goals and eight assists across 24 Premier League games.

Another player who impressed in the 5-0 win over Burnley was his teammate Kai Havertz, who also got on the scoresheet.

‘Great performance, Kai.. you’re making a lot of critics, including me, eat our words,’ Arsenal fan Piers Morgan posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
