Traffic on Outland Road (file image)
It may be half-term week, but roadworks across Plymouth are not taking the week off. Indeed, with less traffic potentially on the road, 42 new schemes are getting under way.
A whole raft of reasons for the schemes have been listed on the weekly roadworks list. They include lane closures for graffiti removal, a lane closure on Tavistock Road for staff training, and for traffic light upgrades, as well as the usual patching, lining and utility work schemes.
On Monday night, one lane is closed on the exit of the Manadon Road towards Tavistock Road from 7pm to 10pm. This is for patch repair works. All this week, on Outland Road, one lane will be closed outside Morrisons, from 9.30am to 3.30pm. This is for drainage investigation works.
On Tuesday, one lane on Tavistock Road will be closed from Woolwell Roundabout towards Roborough footbridge, 9.30am to 3pm. The closure is for Plymouth City Council staff training to take place.
Plymouth City Council has helpfully put out a list of roadworks that will be taking place across the city over the next week. The council is responsible for coordinating works carried out by utility companies, developers and other organisations as well as their own repair, maintenance and improvement works.
They maintain all public roads in Plymouth except the A38, which is managed by National Highways on behalf of the Department for Transport.
“We know there’s no good time to close roads, especially on busy routes and we do everything we can to co-ordinate planned works and minimise their impact on our transport network,” a City Council spokesman said.
The following roadworks are taking place in Plymouth between Monday 12 and Saturday 17 February.
