Maggie Mac Neil: Not done yet

What will success in Paris look like? No swimmer. I don’t think there’s ever successfully defended. Yeah, not just defended, No one’s doubled. There’s that touch. He gets gold. Gold for Canada. Maggie McNeil in 5559. It feels like yesterday, but also feels like 100 years ago. Obviously I have a little bit more firm goals, I think that I did leading into Tokyo because of the situation. It’s stressful and pressure obviously to put it out there and to say that that’s what I wanted, but I think. By saying it out loud, it makes it seem more real and. Makes me think about it. I think in practice to motivate me every single day and I think that when you’ve accomplished the biggest thing in sport. There’s not a lot left to accomplish and that’s something I learned after the last Olympics. And you got to learn to love it and do it because you love the sport or not. Because when I was a kid, all I wanted to get this time standard I want to qualify for this week. So there was always something like in the line of sight that you were like reaching for. We don’t take enough time, I think in the moment to celebrate what we’ve done, and I think that’s something we need to get better at, is being able to sit in that moment and kind of not even just revel in it for yourself, but with your teammates. Because we’re constantly go, go, go and looking at what comes next. And I don’t think we, we really have the time to kind of sit and let it sink in until we were like done or there’s a huge break. You definitely won’t see the last of me after Paris, that’s for sure. But yeah, I think I’ve accomplished more than I thought I would in swimming. And it was never about that for me in the beginning and kind of going back to my roots. And it was about the friendships that I made and my love for the water in general that kind of started out, started it all.
