Choi demonstrated the device’s extendable features for the audience, and here, he pulls off one end to reveal the hidden additional space that will soon be available for PCs.

Intel also shared a GIF on Twitter which shows how the device works in extending the surface of the device to a 17-inch screen from a smaller size when stowed.

Extendable Display for PCs?

Intel and Samsung said that this new device “opens up a world of possibilities” with what it offers, and it is to deliver the PC experience in a resizable and portable feature for all. The device has no further information or specs stated by both companies, but it presents a way to bring one’s work or personal needs with them to different places with the extendable display.

Folding and Rollable Displays

One thing that 2020 taught us is that health is wealth, and it is important to the world, especially with the emergence of the pandemic. However, the other thing that it brought the world is an abundance of folding and rollable display technology from smartphones and monitors which bring a more durable and flexible screen for everyone’s needs.

Samsung is a leader in developing the world’s folding displays and extendable ones available in the market now, especially with the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip series available to all.

However, there was also one prototype that debuted at CES 2021 regarding a new extendable smartphone display from another South Korean tech company, LG. It is the company’s take on extendable displays with the LG Rollable, but sadly, the company terminated its smartphone development even before it arrived to the public.

Corsair also revealed its take on a folding gaming monitor available for all to turn it into a curved display or a standard flat surface.

Intel and Samsung’s latest collaboration on the prototype revealed in the latest showcase is one promising device for a slidable display for the PCs, but there was no further information divulged regarding it.
