Aaaand that’s a wrap! We can’t believe that Cosmoverse 2022 has ended – but know that we’re already excited for the next one.
These last few days have demonstrated the power of community. It’s been great seeing people rekindle old friendships and make new ones.
Before we wrap up for Cosmoverse 2022, we wanted to highlight some of the best moments from the third and final day, as Day 3 of Cosmoverse continued to bring the heat making for an exciting ending to Cosmoverse!
– Events highlights include –
Enrico Talin, Co-Founder of Commercio, has developed the first legally binding blockchain in laundering.
Enrico stated, “RealFi is a $16 trillion market opportunity for on-chain tokenization of liquid assets. We have reached huge traction so far and one of the biggest ecosystems in Cosmos so far because we have at least 90 developers and applications where all of the team are validators.”
Enrico announced the Cosmos Hosted Wallet Appliance that is compliant with the fintech industry standards.
Arinna Shtedle, Chief BD & Integrations Office of Citadel One broke down how the UX issues in Cosmos and blockchains need to be addressed to keep up with the growth in users who are interested in these projects.
“Cosmos is expanding tremendously and we’ve seen a lot of newcomers and new projects come into the ecosystem. These users will see these UX troubles so we are trying to address them.”
Adam Wozney, Head of Community at Akash Network, and Dimi, Co-Founder of Juno Network reflect on the importance of community building when growing a business in the web3 space. The two identified that businesses need to be able to financially quantify the value of their community, to support and give back to community members.
“At the end of the day, it can’t just be about the community benefiting the business and everything else doesn’t matter. It has to go hand in hand and I think they don’t have to be separate,” said Adam.
Adrian Faguet and Roman Beyon, Blockchain Developer and Blockchain Product of Ledger respectively, discussed the future of Ledger within the renewed Cosmos ecosystem. Roman outlined that “the Cosmos ecosystem is about simplicity, about interoperability, about ease of integration”.
Given these values, Ledger announced the development of a new framework that will allow the scalability to support new Cosmos-based chains. They aim to support more than 25 Cosmos-based chains by the end of 2022.
Siddarth Patil, Co-Founder of Comdex, announced the new set of communities they’re airdropping to with Harbor Protocol. Siddarth also explained once the team prices assets to incorporate into new DeFi systems across composable DeFi, “We can get back to the drawing board on synthetics. Pricing is becoming a challenge in liquidity so we want to tap into a new pricing model so liquidity is easily deployable.”
Dean Tribble, Co-Founder and CEO of Agoric, and Zaki Manian, Co-Founder of Sommelier, sat together for a fireside chat.
Zaki spoke with Dean on the logic behind Agoric, a smart contract platform built on top of the Cosmos SDK, and shared how “it’s not just engineers building Agorics…there’s a team of economists working to help secure the network”.
When Dean shared that the long awaited Inter Protocol Token, IST, is officially set to launch the third week of October, the room erupted in applause. The IST is a fully collateralized, cryptocurrency-backed decentralized stable token for the interchain ecosystem on Agoric.
Jelena Djuric, Marketing & Ecosystems Development at Informal Systems, announced changes coming to Cosmos including new partnerships/consumer chains coming to Cosmos 2023. Some of these partnerships include Stride, Neutron, Simply Staking, and Fairblocks. After naming four of the five new partnerships, Djuric said her team is “taking Cosmos mainstream. We’re already mainstream, but there is incredible demand for this infrastructure – for these products,” said Jelena.
Cryptocito of Cosmoverse finished off the day by moderating a panel discussing the ATOM 2.0 news with Zaki Manian, Co-Founder of Sommelier, Ethan Buchmann, Co-Founder of Cosmos, Tyler Schmidt, Co-Founder of Strangelove Ventures, Sam Hart, Strategy Lead of Interchain, Jelena Djuric, Marketing & Ecosystems Development at Informal Systems.
The panel took a look at the history of Cosmos and its growth from the initiation phase to the integration phase expressed in the new whitepaper released this week.
“It feels amazing to see what we’ve all built together. It’s unprecedented… We weren’t trying to compete with other blockchains, we wanted to change the game to evolve the internet forward. We’re actually doing it in a very different way,” said Ethan.
Jelena unpacked the interchain security of the new app chains with ATOM as the staking token. Specifically two kinds of consumer chains. Custom consumer chains, an SDK chain, and contract consumer chains for smart contract developments, with Coswasm.
“We hope to see more blue chip assets launching on this general asset issuance chain. [Circle] understands the role of the Cosmos hub as this credibly neutral, stable, reliable minimalist chain,” said Jelena.
Cosmoverse closed with an awards ceremony celebrating all those in the ecosystem, from best moustache to best community.
