Jurgen Klopp has been accused of “feeling the pressure” with Liverpool still seeking their first win of the season.

The German has seen his side draw games against Fulham and Crystal Palace, two matches they would’ve been expected to win, and have had to come back from behind each time. Already it leaves them four points off the pace and their next assignment is an out-of-sorts Manchester United side.

Klopp has been known to hit back at the media and has already been doing so this term, which former Man United and Everton man Andrei Kanchelskis believes proves that the surprising results are getting to the Reds boss, who has become accustomed to winning with regularity.

He told OLBG : “Klopp is feeling the pressure, but it’s normal because Liverpool usually start very well, now they are being criticised for starting poorly. It’s like Manchester United, they’re big teams who have not started well and get a lot of criticism.

“I understand Klopp because he is used to winning titles, the Champions League, now everybody is criticising Liverpool, which is why he was aggressive to journalists like previous Manchester United managers have been. Liverpool have started badly, but so have United. These are special games and form does not matter.

“This is important for both teams, but Liverpool are psychologically better at the moment because United have really struggled in their two games. The two draws might not matter to Liverpool as much because they still have great attacking players.”

Liverpool are looking to go one better than last year having finished second, once again, to Manchester City. Klopp has seen a change in personnel with Sadio Mane leaving and Darwin Nunez coming in for a club-record fee, which has inevitably led to a transitional period in the final third.

Last term the Reds enjoyed huge success against their arch-rivals, scoring nine times across the two games. Their 5-0 success at Old Trafford was a landmark result for both sides and the Merseyside outfit, despite their slow start to the year, will be heavy favourites to do a job on their struggling opponents.

Klopp will have to prepare his side knowing that Darwin Nunez will be absent after his red card, which only adds to his problems given he already has several players missing through injury. With their rivals playing before them, Liverpool could go into the clash on Monday seven points off the pace at this early stage of the campaign.
