Sainsbury's, Co-op, B&M, Ocado issue emergency notices to shoppers and offer refunds

sainsbury's, co-op, b&m, ocado issue emergency notices to shoppers and offer refunds

The products are being withdrawn for a variety of reasons, according to notices issued through the Food Standards Agency website this week.

Sainsbury’s, Co-op, B&M, Ocado have moved to issue emergency notices to shoppers and offer refunds. The supermarket giants and chains have withdrawn products from sale and are pulling items from shelves amid health and safety fears.

A string of product recall notices have been issued by the brands as we approach the weekend. Sainsbury’s, one of the so-called Big Six supermarkets in the UK, is affected, alongside rivals like Tesco and Ocado and Asda and Iceland.

Further afield, there are notices affecting anybody who shops at the Co-op stores nationwide – and also B&M too. The products are being withdrawn for a variety of reasons, according to notices issued through the Food Standards Agency website this week.

Shoppers and customers who are affected may be able to get full refunds if they have bought the items affected. In many cases, shoppers are being informed by supermarket bosses that they won’t even need receipts to get their cash back.

Ambrosia

Shoppers are being urged to return Ambrosia My Mini Custard Pots because they may contain plastic. My Mini Rice Pots are also being recalled because of the ‘possible choking hazard’ fears.

The products are sold at supermarkets including Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda, Ocado and Iceland. The Food Standards Agency said they may contain pieces of plastic that are “a possible choking hazard”.

A spokesperson said: “Premier Foods is recalling various Ambrosia My Mini Pots because they may contain pieces of plastic. The possible presence of plastic presents a possible choking hazard and makes these products unsafe to eat.”

Premier Foods, which owns Ambrosia, said: “As a precaution, Ambrosia are recalling packs of ‘My mini’ rice and custard pots due to the potential risk that a small piece of plastic from the packaging may be present inside the product and may create a choking hazard if consumed.

“Anyone who has purchased the product is advised to not eat it and retain the packing and either return the product to store or contact Ambrosia for a full refund.”

Co-op treat bar

Co-op is recalling its Treat Brookie Bar because it may contain milk, which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, the chain says.

People who have bought this product and have an allergy or intolerance to milk are urged not to eat it and to return it to the nearest Co-op store.

B&M shake

B&M stores are recalling the Biscoff Shake Up Milkshake Set because it contains a milk protein, which is not mentioned on the label. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

People can return the product to the nearest B&M store for a refund, with or without a receipt.
