Luca Marini returned to work this week in Sepang at the MotoGP shakedown. The Repsol Honda rider took to the track on the second and third days, getting acquainted with the latest version of the RC213V.
The Italian enjoyed the riding sensations but admitted that the speed is not as desired, as he said quoted by GPOne.com: ‘The bike has good potential, it’s nice to ride when you’re alone… because you don’t see the performance of others [laughs]. You feel like you’re doing a good job, but when you cross the finish line, the time is a bit slower than you expected. We have a lot of work to do; it’s only the first time out on the track with the new bike, and it’s very different from last year’s’.
At this point, Marini calls for a smart approach, recognizing that the process takes time: ‘We have to be smart to progress in the shortest possible time; we have concessions, but it’s not very easy to do it quickly. Ducati and KTM worked on their setup for years; we are just starting now’.
