Rashmika Mandanna says she didn’t know Pushpa The Rise’s story nor how to portray Srivalli: ‘Now I am playing Srivalli 2.0’

The anticipation for Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna’s upcoming movie Pushpa 2: The Rule is sky-high, making it one of the most-awaited films of the year. Her birthday on April 5 this year became even more special for Rashmika with the unveiling of her first look as Srivalli from Pushpa 2. Now, Rashmika has shed light on her character in the upcoming film, while also revealing that she initially had no knowledge of her role in Pushpa: The Rise because she was unaware of the film’s storyline.

In an interview with Lifestyle Asia, Rashmika said, “Srivalli in Pushpa 2 is someone super sorted. Now I know the world that we are living in, I know the character that I’m playing, and now it’s Srivalli 2.0, I can say.”

She added, “I didn’t really know my character Srivalli in Pushpa 1, because I didn’t know the story, I didn’t know Srivalli as a character, I didn’t know how to play her, I didn’t know the world that we were creating . . . I didn’t know anything. So I felt like every day on set was like visiting a playground.”

Rashmika was recently seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. Also starring Ranbir Kapoor, the film was a massive success globally. When asked about a favourite film of hers, Rashmika said, “To be very honest, Dear Comrade till date is one of the films closest to my heart. It’s one of my favourite films that I have done so far. So, while it didn’t work as well as expected at the box office, just the love that I had received for the film and I am still receiving is incredible.”

Also starring Fahadh Faasil, Pushpa 2: The Rule will be released in theatres on August 15.
