Liz Truss has expressed her support for Donald Trump to return to the White House,
Writing in the Wall Street Journal, Britain’s shortest-serving prime minister, praised the US’s historic work to “hold off the communist threat from the Soviet Union” and shared her hope for another Republican president.
She said: “I hope that a Republican will be returned to the White House in 2024.”
Mr Trump, who is currently embroiled in a civil fraud trial, remains the front-runner in the race to be the Republican presidential candidate next year.
Meanwhile, Ms Truss’s replacement, Rishi Sunak, will chair Cabinet on Tuesday after reportedly being warned that attempting to opt out of international rights treaties could further delay his Rwanda asylum scheme.
