Le secteur des puces souffre après la double déception de Samsung et AMD

PARIS (Reuters) – Les valeurs européennes des semi-conducteurs reculent en Bourse vendredi matin après les annonces jugées décevantes de deux poids lourds du marché, le sud-coréen Samsung Electronics et l’américain Advanced Micro Devices, qui suggèrent que le secteur n’a pas encore touché le point bas de la crise en cours.

Le géant néerlandais des équipements pour la fabrication de puces ASML perd 2,3% vers 08h20 GMT, le franco-italien STMicroelectronics 2,53% (la plus forte baisse du CAC 40) et l’allemand Infineon Technologies 1,29%.

L’indice Stoxx du secteur européen des hautes technologies affiche quant à lui un recul de 1,44%, de loin la plus forte baisse sectorielle du début de séance.

Samsung, numéro un mondial des puces mémoires, a publié en tout début de journée des résultats trimestriels provisoires marqués par une chute de 32%, pire qu’anticipé, de son bénéfice d’exploitation et les analystes estiment que ses annonces augurent d’une nouvelle baisse des prix sur le trimestre en cours.

Quelques heures plus tôt, AMD avait présenté une estimation de chiffre d’affaires pour le troisième trimestre inférieure de près d’un milliard de dollars à sa propre prévision. Sa directrice générale, Lisa Su, a souligné dans un communiqué que “le marché des PC s’est nettement dégradé au cours du trimestre”.

Le titre du groupe américain chutait de près de 5% dans les échanges en avant-Bourse, Intel et Nvidia autour de 3%.

“Nous supposons que comme dans d’autres entreprises concentrées sur le marché des semi-conducteurs dédiés au grand public, il y a des stocks importants et qu’AMD doit livrer nettement moins qu’attendu”, commentent les analystes de Piper Sandler dans une note.

Pour Bernstein, “la faiblesse du marché du PC (et même une réduction des prévisions) était sans doute largement attendue mais son ampleur est un peu plus forte qu’anticipé”.
