sixers win toss, bowl to stars in must-win bbl game

Peter Handscomb has been elevated to the Stars’ BBL team after an injury to Sam Harper.

The Sydney Sixers will bowl first after winning the toss in their must-win BBL game against the Melbourne Stars at the MCG.

Melbourne have lost wicketkeeper Sam Harper, who is out of hospital after being hit on the head while batting at Friday training.

Former Australian Test player Peter Handscomb has taken his place and Test paceman Scott Boland also returns for the Stars, while the Sixers have brought back Daniel Hughes.

While Melbourne are on a four-game winning streak, the Sixers have had two matches abandoned because of rain and also lost a weather-affected game.

The Sixers are third on the ladder and the Stars are fourth, with the two sides on eight points.

STARS: Tom Rogers, Dan Lawrence, Beau Webster, Glenn Maxwell (capt), Marcus Stoinis, Hilton Cartwright, Imad Wasim, Peter Handscomb, Jono Merlo, Joel Paris, Scott Boland.

SIXERS: Josh Philippe, James Vince, Daniel Hughes, Moises Henriques (capt), Jordan Silk, Tom Curran, Jack Edwards, Sean Abbott, Ben Dwarshuis, Todd Murphy, Steve O’Keefe.
