Shadow Immigration Minister Dan Tehan has hit back at Prime Minister Anthony Albanese who called him out over previous comments made about the need to bring more international students and backpackers into Australia.
The Prime Minister dug out the comments made by the Shadow Immigration Minister at the re-opening of Australia’s borders, in light of new predictions that 1.6 million migrants will enter the country over the next five years.

“I said to the Prime Minister over the dispatch box ‘read the date on that comment’” Mr Tehan told Sky News Australia host Chris Kenny.
“I was the Trade and Tourism Minister during COVID and we closed the borders – and so we did want to get our international students back, we did want to get our backpackers back.
“But not in the numbers that this government is doing.”
