Iran has prepared 100 cruise missiles in a planned “imminent” strike on Israel following the US’s movement of troops to the Middle East in anticipation of further conflict.
Military officials said they had seen Iran ready 100 missiles in a likely pre-cursor to an attack, according to a briefing to ABC News and CNN, with ABC reporting that Iran may have also prepared a number of drones.
Pentagon officials said the US would increase their military presence in the region as a warning to Tehran and the USS Dwight Eisenhower would be sent into the Red Sea. The USS Dwight Eisenhower would act as a missile interceptor to drones fired by Iran.
Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei pledged to take action for Israel’s attack in Syria last week, which Tel-Aviv have not yet taken responsibility for.
Around 100 missiles were said to be readied
Tehran said this attack was an Israeli airstrike on an Iranian diplomatic building in Damascus. On Friday US Defence officials said they would move “additional assets to the area” hours after the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem locked down.
On Friday, US President Joe Biden hinted at a likely assault from Iran on Israel “sooner than later” further adding that he doesn’t wish to delve into secure, classified information. However, he did mention that his “expectation is sooner than later.”

“We are devoted to the defence of Israel. We will support Israel. We will help defend Israel, and Iran will not succeed,” Biden stated to reporters in a dramatic end to his press briefing. His government has already flagged concerns about a “significant attack” in the region from Iran in revenge for an embassy raid, noting that neither Israeli nor American forces in the area are immune.
A missile onslaught aimed at Israel on Friday evening has sparked fears that the country’s Iron Dome defence system could be overwhelmed, as a pundit ominously suggested the attack near the Galilee Panhandle, close to Lebanon’s border, might be a ploy to exhaust Israel’s defences ahead of an impending Iranian counterstrike.
Iran released images of a missile being launched during a military drill in southern Iran in January
Terrifying footage circulating on social media captured the moment Israel’s Iron Dome valiantly intercepted incoming missiles, detonating them in the sky above towns on the border. The clips depict a volley of rockets being launched over the frontier, which are then met by a flurry of Israeli counter-rockets.
The Times of Israel reported no immediate damage or injuries from the incident. It is suspected that the projectiles were fired by Hezbollah, the Lebanese militant faction that has become an ally of Iran. Since entering the conflict in Gaza, Hezbollah has been sending rockets, missiles, and drones into Israel on an almost daily basis.
