Congress may field Vikramaditya Singh against Kangana Ranaut in Himachal's Mandi

Amid the controversy surrounding the Congress nominee selection for the Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh, opposing Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Kangana Ranaut, state Congress chief Pratibha Singh said on Saturday (April 13) that party leaders have agreed that a young leader should be nominated. Therefore, a consensus has been reached on the candidacy of Vikramaditya Singh.

As per a report in ANI, Singh was quoted saying, “Discussions were held on the various candidate names that we shortlisted. But it depends on the high command, on Mallikarjun Kharge, and on what names they approve. All our senior leaders believe that this time a young leader should be fielded. So, a consensus has been reached on the name of Vikramaditya (Singh). The names will be finalised soon.”

Following the meeting with Himachal Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, she mentioned that discussions were conducted regarding all four seats and announcement regarding the Mandi ticket will also be made shortly.

Meanwhile senior party leader Rajeev Shukla stated, “The meeting focused on Himachal Pradesh and candidates for two constituencies have been confirmed, while discussions for the remaining two are ongoing.”

Slamming Kangana Ranaut for her ‘Chhota Pappu’ remark, Himachal Pradesh Minister Vikramaditya Singh said on Thursday that he would pray to Lord Ram to give her some “sense.”

In a video message, Singh expressed that Kangana Ranaut is attempting to mislead the public and shift the focus away from the state’s issues. He also challenged her to engage in a debate with him.

“We respect our elder sister Kangana Ranaut in high regard. Today, she addressed the people of Manali.

Rather than criticising the Congress party and its leaders, it would have been more constructive if she had addressed the significant disaster that occurred in Manali a few months ago, which is considered one of the biggest calamities of the century,” Singh remarked.
