Dumb Money premiere
There are two major new movie releases in U.S. theaters this week, and we have all the details for you.
2023 has been a huge year for cinema, with the summer period flourishing thanks to the releases of Barbie and Oppenheimer. The movies were released around the same time and many theater-goers actually did the double-feature, which was affectionately named ‘Barbenheimer’.
Barbie became the most successful movie ever directed by a solo female director, earning $1.41 billion at the box office, while Oppenheimer has made $912m. No pressure for the movies that follow then…
New Movie Releases this week
As we approach 2024, several huge movies will be released before the end of the year, including one released just a few days ago.
Dumb Money – September 15, 2023
Dumb Money
is based on the book ‘The Antisocial Network’ by Ben Mezrich and details the GameStop short squeeze of 2021.
The official premise reads:’ ‘Based on the true story of a group of rag-tag investors from the Reddit page called r/WallStreetBets, who banded together to put the squeeze on at least two hedge funds that had bet that GameStop shares would fall.’
Cast: Paul Dano, Pete Davidson, Vincent D’Onofrio, America Ferrera, Nick Offerman, Anthony Ramos, Sebastian Stan, Shailene Woodley, and Seth Rogen.
The Expendables 4 (Expend4ables) – September 22, 2023
Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham and their jacked-up group of action heroes are back in the latest entry in the Expendables franchise, styled as Expend4bles.
While previous entries have included cameos from the likes of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis and Harrison Ford, this promises to be more of a low-key affair, unless some surprise cameos are being kept under wraps.
The official premise reads: ‘The Expendables are assigned on a mission to stop a terrorist organization headed by Suarto Rahmat from smuggling nuclear warheads that will ignite a conflict between Russia and the U.S.’
Cast: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson, Megan Fox, Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Jacob Scipio, Levy Tran, and Andy García.
