City of Tshwane announces a water shutdown affecting areas and amenities

The City of Tshwane will conduct essential maintenance and upgrades to its water supply network along Dely Road in Hazelwood on Wednesday, 21 February.

The maintenance, scheduled to last for eight hours from 8:00 to 16:00, may temporarily interrupt water supply to several areas and amenities.

“We are committed to conducting essential maintenance to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our water supply network,” stated the City of Tshwane.

“While we apologise for any inconvenience caused by the temporary interruption, we encourage residents to cooperate with water conservation measures to minimize the impact and contribute to sustainable water usage in our community.”

Areas affected by the water shutdown in Tshwane

Residents in Alphen Park, Brooklyn, Garsfontein 374-JR, Hazelwood, Maroelana, Maroelama Extension 3, Waterkloof, Crown Mews, Nazareth House, Waterkloof Place, and Waterkloof Primary School should anticipate potential disruptions.

To mitigate inconvenience, the City of Tshwane has arranged water tankers to service customers in the affected areas.

Acknowledging the inconvenience caused by this unplanned interruption, the City expresses its apologies to residents. In light of the maintenance work, residents are reminded to observe water conservation measures diligently.

Conservation measures

• Refrain from watering gardens with hosepipes or sprinkler systems between 6:00 and 18:00.
• Avoid vehicle washing with hosepipes.
• Abstain from filling swimming pools during the maintenance period.
• Install low-flow shower heads and tap aerators.
• Use dual-flush toilet cisterns.
• Plant indigenous or drought-resistant shrubs.
• Utilise rainwater for garden irrigation or car washing.
• Use a broom instead of a hosepipe for cleaning.
• Close taps while brushing teeth or shaving.

By adhering to these measures, residents can contribute to conserving water resources and mitigating the impact of the maintenance work on their daily lives.
