The Corsa was clocked going well below the speed limit
Sometimes you’re lucky to reach 50km/h on certain parts of Dublin’s M50, but one driver seemed content with the snail’s pace as they crept along a motorway in England.
Officers spotted a driver trundling along well below the 120 km/h speed limit on Manchester’s M60 near the Trafford Centre yesterday.
An image shared by Greater Manchester Police shows a white Vauxhall Corsa being driven in the middle lane of the almost empty motorway.
The image shows the speed, clocked by the police car, of 30mph (50km/h) at 3.24am on Wednesday morning.
Cops pursued the Corsa, which proceeded to drive off the motorway, before coming to a stop at Liverpool Road, Manchester Evening News reports.
The driver was given a breathalyser test, which police say was over the limit. He was arrested on suspicion of drink driving and given another test, which police say was still above the limit.
A GMP Traffic spokesperson shared details of the incident on X, formerly Twitter, in a post that has been viewed over 12,000 times so far. They said: “The Vauxhall Corsa was seen driving at 30mph between junction 10 and 11 of the M60. Stopped on Liverpool Road, Eccles, he would provide a positive breath sample and was arrested. In custody he’s just provided a reading of 81.”
