MANILA, Philippines: President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. approved the extension of the deadline for the consolidation of public utility vehicles until April 30, 2024, Malacañang said on Wednesday.

In a statement, Presidential Communications Office Secretary Cheloy Garafil said this was to give drivers and operators who did not meet the deadline for consolidation another chance.

“President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has approved Transport Secretary Jaime J. Bautista’s recommendation, granting an additional three months until April 30, 2024 for the consolidation of public utility vehicles,” Garafil said.

“This extension is to give an opportunity to those who expressed intention to consolidate but did not make the previous cut-off,” she added.

Initially, unconsolidated PUV operators in routes with below 60 percent consolidation rate have only until January 31 before they can no longer ply their routes, as stated in a circular issued by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
