Philippines to push policies reducing cost of doing business — Balisacan

Socioeconomic Planning Sec. Arsenio Balisacan

Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan on Friday said the Philippine government will pursue policies that will reduce the cost of doing business.

During a press conference in the US, Balisacan said the government will further improve the country’s economic recovery from the COVID-19 through these policies.

“We in the public sector shall take this further. We will push for policies that will reduce the cost of doing business and facilitate greater investments in the country’s infrastructure, which shall serve as the strong foundation of a dynamic economy driven by our young and skilled workforce,” he said.

Balisacan said the Philippines is well-positioned to capitalize on the reforms that open up the economy to the private sector and foreign investors, and strengthen its macroeconomic fundamentals.

He made the statement following their discussions with the business sector during the working visit of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in New York.

With the support of fiscal and monetary policies, he said sustained infrastructure development will allow more high-quality and green jobs in key growth drivers such as manufacturing, agriculture, among others.

“We are encouraged by your interest and support and we commit to working with you as we strive to become a key player within the global trade networks and value chains, has a highly productive, innovative, and industrialized economy,” he said. — Joviland Rita/RSJ, GMA News
