Delhi Capitals skipper Rishabh Pant was seen hitting his trademark reverse scoop off the bowling of Marcus Stoinis in Lucknow on Friday. Just when it seemed the ball was full and ripe for a conventional shot, Pant’s sheer audacity took over, flipping the script with a brilliant stroke. The precision and timing left everyone in disbelief.
Pant smashed four fours and two sixes, with one of those boundaries being an incredible reverse scoop that captivated cricket fans worldwide. Jake Fraser-McGurk (55 off 35 balls) and Pant (41) struck a 77-run partnership to take the game away from the hosts and secure Delhi’s second victory of IPL 2024.

Fraser-McGurk, known for his aggressive approach, smoked a shot of a length ball off Yash Thakur over deep mid-wicket to get his first-ever runs in the IPL. He followed that with another six in the next over.
Earlier, Prithvi Shaw (32) was looking in good nick but Ravi Bishnoi made an instant impact as he entered the match, getting rid of the opener, as Delhi fell to 63/2. The Lucknow bowlers were able to dominate the visitors for sometime as Fraser-McGurk struggled to find the fours.
Pant too took his time to settle down, scoring just nine runs off 11 balls before he smacked Bishnoi for a six and a four in the 11th over to get going.

Pant gave a glimpse of his vintage self, playing some audacious shots, including the reverse scoop off Stoinis. His power-hitting eased the pressure of Fraser-McGurk who slammed compatriot Stoinis for a hat-trick of sixes to bring the equation to almost a run a ball.
Earlier, returning to the team after missing three games because of a groin niggle, Kuldeep Yadav picked three wickets while giving away 20 runs and conceding no fours in his quota of four overs.
Kuldeep’s victims included Lucknow captain KL Rahul (39), Stoinis (8) and the dangerous Nicholas Pooran (0). Khaleel Ahmed (2/41), who landed the first blow, Ishant Sharma (1/36) and Mukesh Kumar (1/41) took wickets to leave Lucknow reeling at 94/7.
But Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan then added 73 runs for the eighth wicket to take Lucknow to the respectable score of 167.
Pant will next be seen in action when DC take on the Gujarat Titans on April 17 in Ahmedabad and they will look to maintain the winning momentum.
