When you go out for a meal, you should be able to rely on the hygiene of those preparing and serving you food. And many of us are used to seeing those green labels with star ratings for food hygiene when we go out to bars and restaurants, indicating

There is now further reassurance as five-star food hygiene ratings have been award to four Cheltenham venues, as released by Public Protection at Cheltenham Borough Council. Food hygiene ratings reflect the hygiene standards which are found on the day of inspection by the local authority – but they are not a guide to food quality.

The rating are given a score from 0-5 with 0 being the lowest and 5 the highest. The areas of inspection by a food safety officer include the handling of food, facility conditions and food safety management.

Two independent businesses in the town have won the rating including 288 Bar & Wok, a noodle bar and restaurant on the High Street and Moosh at the Site based at Kingsditch Trading Estate, which is an independent coffee shop that has recently opened after beginnings in Charlton Kings.

Two chains in Cheltenham are part of the five-star ratings too including Wagamama off Clarence Street, a British restaurant serving Asian food based on Japanese cuisine and All Bar One based at Montpellier Walk, who serve beer, cocktails, wine and sharing plates.
