Expect for the top 10 teams in college football to look a bit different after Week 8’s results from the Oklahoma, Michigan and Penn State games.

Michigan’s dominating performance over Northwestern, Oklahoma’s near upset at Kansas and Penn State’s overtime thriller vs. Illinois will all impact the top 10 of the next college football rankings.

The Wolverines stay perfect and have the biggest game of the weekend next Saturday vs. the undefeated in-state rival Michigan State Spartans. While Oklahoma survived Kansas, the Sooners do look very beatable, despite having an emerging star freshman quarterbacking their undefeated team in Caleb Williams. And what can we say about the Penn State overtime game vs. Illinois?

Here’s what the top of the next AP Top 25 poll may look like after this college football Saturday.

College football projected top 10 rankings, Week 9

Georgia Bulldogs Cincinnati Bearcats Alabama Crimson Tide Ohio State Buckeyes Michigan Wolverines Oklahoma Sooners Oklahoma State Cowboys Michigan State Spartans Oregon Ducks Ole Miss Rebels

Idle Georgia stays the top Dawgs, as they should heading into their massive rivalry game vs. Florida. Cincinnati stays at No. 2, despite a strong effort by Navy. Alabama moves up to three due to the expect shellacking the Crimson Tide will put on Tennessee, as well as Oklahoma being pushed to the brink by Kansas. Ohio State and Michigan round out the top five entering Week 9.

Oklahoma may fall as far as No. 6, given how bad it got vs. Kansas. The Sooners are undefeated, but their performance was not good enough to stay at No. 3 one bit. Oklahoma State improves to No. 7 with a win over Iowa State. Idle Michigan State moves up to No. 8 ahead of the Michigan game. Oregon moves to No. 9 after beating UCLA. Ole Miss gets to No. 10 with a win over LSU.

The only thing that was definitely learned is the college football overtime rules are a disaster.
