I have never been stereotyped, glad to have been offered a range of roles: Pallavi Rao
Actress Pallavi Rao, who was last seen in Nagmani, is currently a part of the TV show Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. The actress is playing the lead actor Karam Rajpal’s mother in the show. The actress, who is known to play negative roles, shares how she will portray a possessive and protective mother in the show. She said, “I am playing the lead actor’s mother but it is not a negative role. It has many shades because she is a very protective mother. I am glad that after Nagmani, this is a new challenge for me.”
Pallavi also denies that she has been stereotyped in playing negative roles. She said, “My role in Kulfi Kumar Bajewala was different from Shubharambh and then I was playing a very protective masi in Pandya Store. So I am glad that the makers have offered me varied roles in good shows. In the last few years, makers are writing interesting roles for women and they are not just restricted to bahu and vamp roles. A woman could be playing a bahu but it is much more progressive and entertaining to watch shows now. I believe that TV is a mass medium and it helps you connect with audiences. Even today, people remember my comic timing in Pandya Store.”
In an earlier interview, the actress had spoken to BT about why she quit Pandya Store. She had said, “My role as Prafulla mami was superb but then the story moved to other family members and my dates were not being used. The makers wanted to get me back on the show and gradually the track steered towards Rishita’s delivery. I had also got an offer to act in Nima Denzongpa. But, after July my track ended, so I thought it was best to quit Pandya Store.”
