Ray Hadley’s popular morning program has been scrapped in Brisbane.
4BC Weekends host Bill McDonald has been named the new host for the morning slot in the city.
The shock move comes into effect immediately as McDonald replaced Hadley on the the airwaves for the first time on Monday.
It’s despite Hadley’s Mornings enjoying the highest share of 4BC’s audience with 7 per cent in the latest ratings.

Radio host Ray Hadley has been axed from the air waves in Brisbane
4BC Content Manager Max Dudley says the move is part of a local content strategy.
‘Eight years ago, Ray added 4BC to his large list of network stations and has made a huge impact in Brisbane and across Queensland,’ he said.
‘We’re delighted Ray will still be heard across the Brisbane airwaves during the Continuous Call Team, State of Origin, NRL Finals and the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.’
Hadley’s show will continue to air weekdays on 2GB in Sydney.
4BC hails his successor McDonald as a well-known Brisbane media identity who has anchored the 6pm news for two different networks and covered everything from Olympic Games to Queensland storms and floods.
Brisbane listeners are already embracing the change.
‘I have loved listening to Ray, but am thrilled that you’re going to be bringing us up to speed from here in Queensland,’ one commented.
Another listener added: ‘Fantastic news. Common sense for a change. Qld focused radio. About time we finally had a great Qlder in this time slot.
More to come.
