Samsung e Intel están preparando computadores con pantallas deslizantes

Samsung Display e Intel están preparando una nueva pantalla que cambiaría el mundo de los pc: una pantalla deslizante.

Después de los computadores con torre llegaron los portátiles, pero eso no fue suficiente, así que se crearon las tablets que se pueden conectar a teclados y mouse para usar como computador, aun así, el mercado tecnológico no está conforme. Es por eso que Samsung Display e Intel están preparando una nueva pantalla que cambiaría el mundo de los pc: una pantalla deslizante.

Durante el discurso de apertura del Intel Innovation que inició este 27 de septiembre, apareció sorpresivamente JS Choi, el CEO de Samsung Display. Choi mostró en el escenario el primer prototipo de la pantalla deslizante; a simple vista parece una tableta de tan solo 13 pulgadas que al deslizarse se convierte en una pantalla de 17 pulgadas.

“Anunciamos la primera pantalla deslizable de 17 pulgadas del mundo para PC”, dijo Choi. “Este dispositivo satisfará varias necesidades de una pantalla más grande y también de portabilidad”. Lo cierto es que Samsung Display optó por dejar de lado las pantallas plegables para abrirle paso a una nueva tecnología en el mundo de las pantallas flexibles: las deslizantes. Incluso, Choi indicó que “lo plegable se ha ido” al menos en materia de computadores.

Intel y su papel en este nuevo lanzamiento

Samsung se encarga del hardware, mientras que Intel será la compañía encargada de diseñar todo el software de las nuevas pc. De hecho, Intel ha perseguido nuevos diseños de equipos durante años; inicialmente se estaba preparando para un futuro de computadores plegables y de doble pantalla. No obstante, parece que este tipo de pantallas han quedado en “stop” mientras invierten toda su energía en las pantallas deslizables.

Aunque aún se desconoce cómo será todo el software que acompañe a estos nuevos computadores de pantalla deslizable, Intel se apresuró a realizar la primera demostración de su nuevo software Unison en esa pantalla. El objetivo principal de Unison es conectar computadores con tecnología Intel a celulares, incluyendo los iPhone. Sin embargo, no es seguro que sea éste el software que tienen destinado para las pantallas deslizables, pues solo fueron utilizadas para mostrar Unison.
