One of Samsung’s most anticipated mid-range phones, the Galaxy A34 5G, has cleared another regulatory hurdle. The phone was just spotted at the FCC carrying model number SM-A346M.

The phone appears to have dual-SIM capabilities, and the FCC lists the phone as having 5G, NFC, and Bluetooth connectivity. Interestingly, the agency used a 25W charger (model number EP-TA800) to test the Galaxy A34 5G, but this is not necessarily a confirmation that the phone has 25W fast charging capabilities. Thankfully, previous leaks and rumors lend weight to the 25W charging specifications.

The FCC documents are relatively sparse on details regarding the Galaxy A34’s hardware, but at least the documents strengthen the 25W theory. According to rumors, the Galaxy A34 5G should be equipped with a 5,000mAh battery.

The upcoming mid-range Samsung phone also passed through the Geekbench online benchmark a few weeks ago, and according to that entry, the phone should sport the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 chipset. In early benchmarks, the phone scored 778 points in single-core tests and 2,332 points in multi-core. These results are preliminary, so they’re not necessarily reflecting the phone’s true performance levels.

The Galaxy A34 5G should have a 6.5-inch display with a 90Hz refresh rate. The panel has an Infinity-U notch accommodating the selfie camera. And although this design detail seems rather outdated by today’s standards, the back of the phone should look a lot more modern. Like the upcoming Galaxy S23 series, the Galaxy A34 is expected to have circular cutouts for the rear-facing cameras, thus eliminating the camera bump/hump we’ve seen on previous models. It’s a modern design touch for an otherwise affordable smartphone.

Speaking of the Galaxy S23, Samsung already lets you reserve it online. But if you’re in the market for a more affordable device, such as the Galaxy A34 5G, you may have to wait until after Unpacked on February 1.
