Sen. Bong Go. Senate Social Media Unit
SEN. Bong Go has reiterated his appeal to concerned agencies to expedite the release of the health emergency allowance (HEA) to health care workers (HCWs) during the pandemic.
On Sunday, the senator said that he wanted to honor HCWs as modern-day heroes for their sacrifice during the Covid-19 health emergency.
Go said the medical frontliners played a “crucial role in the nation’s fight against the pandemic.”
Some of them “even lost their lives in the line of duty,” said the Senate Committee on Health and Demography chairman.
“They are the heroes during the pandemic. We would never have returned to normalcy without their sacrifice,” Go said in Filipino.
He called on the Department of Health (DoH) and the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) to speed up the release of the HEA, “not just as a service rendered but as a debt owed by the government to its health care workers.”
“I advised the DoH and DBM to reconcile their record to determine who already received the allowance, who have yet to receive theirs and what were the reasons for the delay of the release of the funds [for HEA],” Go said.
